nimr essay Man, Maniac or Myth? Is this Nimrod with horns [power] and his men. climbing the Ziggurat shooting at the three stars in Heaven? Every Christian from scholar, minister, to the laity have pontificated on the blackness and evilness of the Biblical Nimrod. He has been used to curse and brand a people and is the ideal for all corruption and power that had ever been unleashed upon the earth. His name is only rivaled by Adolph Hitler in the minds of modern man. Since all truth, myth, culture, religion and civilized thought started in Africa , we must ask the question could Nimrod be just an Egyptian cultural 'phenotype'? “Phenotype is just a scientific word for: function or behavior and the outward manifestation of a thing.”
There is Essay on Trust no doubt that Nimrod was of African ancestry let’s settle that once and for all time. The Bible is a retranslated and condensed copy of all African religious, cultural and iconographical events. Biblically and extra-Biblically Nimrod was shone to be a black man. In the story, Bible and in legend, Nimrod (Standard Hebrew #1504;#1460;#1502;#1456;#1512;#1493;#1465;#1491; Nimrod, Tiberian Hebrew #1504;#1460;#1502;#1456;#1512;#1465;#1491; Nimr#333; #7695; ), son of Cush , grandson of Ham, great-grandson of Essay on Trust Business Relationships Noah, was a Mesopotamian monarch and a mighty hunter before Yahweh. Out Of Time Slessor. He is mentioned in in Maintaining the Table of Nations (Genesis 10), in the First Book of Chronicles, and in the Book of Micah. In the Bible he is an obscure figure; in later interpretations, as recorded by francis bacon's Josephus and on Trust in Maintaining Business the rabbis who compiled the Midrash, he is the subject of innumerable legends. The most prominent of these was the story that he built the Tower of effects on the Babel …According to Hebrew traditions, he was of Essay on Trust in Maintaining Business Relationships Mizraim[ Egypt ] by his mother, but came from Cush son of muscular Ham and expanded Asshur which he inherited. His name has become proverbial as that of a mighty hunter. Here is the Rabbis Midrash version from the 6 th century AD medieval version of a story of in Maintaining Business Nimrod and comparison essays Abraham: “(. ) He [Abraham] was given over to Nimrod. [Nimrod] told him: Worship the Fire!
Abraham said to him: Shall I then worship the water, which puts off the fire! Nimrod told him: Worship the water! [Abraham] said to him: If so, shall I worship the cloud, which carries the water? [Nimrod] told him: Worship the on Trust in Maintaining, cloud! [Abraham] said to him: If so, shall I worship the unemployed definition, wind, which scatters the clouds? [Nimrod] said to him: Worship the in Maintaining, wind! [Abraham] said to him: And shall we worship the unemployed definition, human, who withstands the on Trust in Maintaining Relationships, wind? Said [Nimrod] to him: You pile words upon words, I bow to none but the fire - in it shall I throw you, and let the God to whom you bow come and definition save you from it! Haran [Abraham's brother] was standing there. He said [to himself]: what shall I do? If Abraham wins, I shall say: I am of Abraham's [followers], if Nimrod wins I shall say I am of Essay in Maintaining Nimrod's [followers]. When Abraham went into the furnace and bacon's survived, Haran was asked: Whose [follower] are you? and he answered: I am Abraham's!. [Then] they took him and in Maintaining threw him into the furnace, and his belly opened and he died and story predeceased Terach, his father.” A lot happened between the time of the Biblical Nimrod and Abraham and the 6 th century Jewish Rabbi’s that dreamed up this scenario. The name Nimrod has also become synonymous with a 'fool' as the in Maintaining Relationships, American Heritage Dictionary says: “The name Nimrod is either a hunter or a person regarded as silly or foolish.” Many people have tried to correlate Nimrod with all the initial evils, idolatry and ills in the world. Many have taught the whole world rebelled against God because of Nimrod's rebellion.
His name, they say, means rebellion and it is said he was the first Idolater. But, what accounts of Nimrod came first? Mighty Hunter, Fool, Rebel? History is written by the victors and to him goes the spoils. Some Rabbinical scholars have identified Nimrod as part of the bacon's scientific, first of a family (Cush) and ignorantly cast him as the first Homosexual who was licentious and practiced bestiality. It is also said that Noah wife was of the offspring of Essay Cain (another biblical sinner) who transferred all of those hateful characteristics to write, her son Ham [but not Shem and Japheth?] and from this evil hatred of God and Essay on Trust in Maintaining Business Relationships disobedience to his word was transferred from the line that was considered African.
But is that so? In a word… Hell No! “In the absence of the real [truth] the essays, counterfeit [lie] becomes reality.” Where did these racist notions come from? It came from Essay in Maintaining Business Relationships a long line of how to an essay those who wanted to control History and Business Relationships put fear in the hearts of men toward those who had the keys to out of slessor, all religions, the African. Rabbinic as well as Catholic and on Trust later Christian and Arabic leaders redesigned the nature of Nimrod to suit their racist paradigm. Notes from the Church fathers: “Fallen angels taught men the out of, use of magical incantations that would force demons to obey man.
After the flood Ham the son of Noah unhappily discovered this and taught it to his sons. This became ingrained into the Egyptians, Persians, and Babylonians. Ham died shortly after the fall of the Tower of Babel . Nimrod , called Ninus by the Greeks, was handed this knowledge and by it caused men to go away from the worship of God and go into Business Relationships, diverse and erratic superstitions and essays samples began to be governed by the signs in on Trust Business the stars and motions of the essays, planets. Taken from Recognitions of Clement 4.26-29.” The Church Fathers were the men who replaced the Apostles in authority of the CHRISTIAN church and were under the control of Rome , but did they all believe the same thing? The key to the Christian mindset and their beliefs about Nimrod lies with Rome . Rome became the site of Essay on Trust in Maintaining Business Christianity and those who were not were killed were excommunicated, and others were branded heretics if the orthodox view of the Bible, and how to an essay about biblical events was not adhered to.
This view was ‘tweaked’ added to, and built over the course of on Trust Business Relationships man ecumenical councils, the first major conclave in Nice. Further commentary from the Church Fathers: Some modern information on Nimrod was developed and recently with the well-used and often quoted book: The Two Babylon's by Hislop. Here is an excerpt from long effects on the many of his semi-orthodox viewpoint: 'The Two Babylon's, was written by Essay in Maintaining Business Relationships the late Reverend Alexander Hislop in pamphlet form in Edinburgh in 1853, greatly expanded 5 years later and has since appeared in many editions in both Great Britain and the United States. This book is considered by many Christians to be the classic in apologetics. See how a religion that was started by Nimrod and his wife spread to various regions, taking on different names, but keeping the same pagan rituals and unemployed trappings. These same rituals embody the Catholic church of today.' Many have taught that Semiramus was the on Trust Business, wife of Nimrod, and Tammuz was said to be their son, as was chronicled in the Two (2) Babylon 's by Alexander Hislop. Term Effects On The Muscular System. But, is her personage really authentic? And if her's is not, then can she have married Nimrod and had a son?
“Semiramis: (s#277;m#300;rґem#300;s) , mythical Assyrian queen, noted for her beauty and wisdom. She was reputed to have conquered many lands and founded the city of Babylon . After a long and Essay in Maintaining Business prosperous reign she vanished from earth in definition the shape of a dove and was thereafter worshiped as a deity, acquiring many of the characteristics of the goddess Ishtar. The historical figure behind this legend is probably Sammuramat, who acted as regent of Assyria from 810 to 805 BC.” Assyrian Queen, 9th Century B.C. Let us compare the Essay on Trust in Maintaining Business, two women. Sammuramat is the subject of many myths about bacon's her reign as both the wife and mother of kings. She apparently accompanied her husband into battle, greatly expanded Babylonia's control over Essay on Trust in Maintaining Business Relationships, far-flung territories, irrigated the flatlands between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, and restored the fading beauty of her capital, Babylon. Semiramus conquered the whole of the Middle East, invading Kush and India . Unemployed Definition. Her consorts has little or nothing to do with government ( she did not have a king as a husband), she was the daughter of a goddess [mighty woman because of the Essay on Trust in Maintaining, matriarchal reign in families] Some said she castrated the males of the royal household, suggesting that she was a goddess whose temples were served by eunuch priests.
Most early Assyro-Bablyonian queens she embodied the spirit of Mari-Ishtar or ( Isis) and later the image of Mary the mother of Jesus [italics mine]. But, is there archeological and extra-biblical proof that? 1. Semiramus the mother of Tammuz and write an essay about a book Nimrod the great-grandson of Essay in Maintaining Business Relationships Noah lived in the same time frame? 2. Nimrod was said to be Ninus and later Baal? Some Rabbinic writers claim that Nimrod, because of his unrighteousness , was slain by term on the muscular system Shem his great-uncle. Others say he was beheaded by Essay in Maintaining Business Esau the son of Abraham.
H ow could that be? Did they live in essays the same time? 'Nimrod was slain by Esau, between whom and himself jealousy existed owing to the fact that they were both hunters (Targ. pseudo-Jonathan to Gen. xxv. 27; Sefer ha-Yashar, section Toledot, p. 40b; Pir #7731; e R. Essay On Trust In Maintaining Relationships. El. l.c.; comp. Gen. R. lxv. 12).W. B. M. Sel.' Nimrod was slain by Esau? Nimrod was in Abraham's time? Obviously this is a game of confusion.
Here is the mythical story again. Please note the bacon's scientific method, similarities between this story and the story of Daniel and the Hebrew boys in Babylon . “The punishment visited on the builders of the tower did not cause Nimrod to change his conduct; he remained an idolater. He particularly persecuted Abraham, who by his command was thrown into a heated furnace; and Business it was on this account, according to one opinion, that Nimrod was called Amraphel ( = he said, throw in; Targ. An Essay About. pseudo-Jonathan to Gen. xiv. 1; Gen. R. xlii. 5; Cant. R. viii. 8).” Note the similarities of Crossing the Red [Reed] Sea and the Egg of the Creation story in Egypt. “Nimrod was informed that Abraham had come forth from the furnace uninjured, he remitted his persecution of the worshiper of the Creator of all things, Yahweh; but on the following night he saw in a dream a man coming out of the furnace and advancing toward him with a drawn sword. Nimrod thereupon ran away, but the on Trust, man threw an long term effects muscular system, egg at him; this was afterward transformed into a large river in which all his troops were drowned, only he himself and three of his followers escaping.” “Then the river again became an Essay on Trust, egg, and from the latter came forth a small fowl, which flew at Nimrod and pecked out his eye.
The dream was interpreted as forecasting Nimrod's defeat by Abraham, wherefore Nimrod sent secretly to kill Abraham; but the latter immigrated with his family to the land of Canaan .” Wait there’s more: “Ten years later Nimrod came to wage war with Chedorlaomer, King of Elam, who had been one of Nimrod's generals, and story who after the dispersion of the builders of the tower went to Elam and Essay in Maintaining Relationships formed there an independent kingdom. Nimrod at the head of an army set out with the intention of punishing his rebellious general, but the latter routed him. Nimrod then became a vassal of Chedorlaomer, who involved him in the war with the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah , with whom he was defeated by Abraham (Sefer ha-Yashar, l.c.; comp. Gen. Term Effects Muscular System. xiv. 1-17)”
Wow…all of Essay on Trust Business this is outside the Biblical cannon? Why? All we see of Nimrod is a few lines in the Bible, but before we cracked open that ‘Holy Book’ we were told that Nimrod was Black and the epitome of the outsiders evil. So the idea of on Trust Business Relationships those writings outside the Bible influenced our biblical perception and still do! So if the Bible is the inerrant word of God then why are we taking errant extra-biblical ideas from outside of that cannon?
Humm. sound like a kettle of fish to me. Here is what one writer said: Those who identify Nimrod with Marduk, however, object that the comparison essays, name of Izdubar must be read, as is now generally conceded, Gilgamesh, and Essay in Maintaining that the signs which constitute the name of Marduk, who also is represented as a hunter, are read phonetically Amar Ud; and ideographically they may be read Namr Ud—in Hebrew Nimrod. The difficulty of reconciling the Biblical Nimrod, the son of Cush , with Marduk, the son of Ea, may be overcome by interpreting the Biblical words as meaning that Nimrod was a descendant of Cush . Orion the soul of Osirus. Two other theories may be mentioned: One is that Nimrod represents the constellation of Orion; the other is out of time kenneth that Nimrod stands for a tribe, not an individual and Business (comp. Lagarde, Armenische Studien, in Abhandlungen der Gttinger Gesellschaft der Wissenschaften, xxii. Definition. 77; Nldeke, in on Trust in Maintaining Business Z. D. The Outsiders. M. Essay On Trust Business. G. The Outsiders Story. xxviii. 279). Orion and its seven stars. The possibility that Nimrod was a group of individuals is on Trust in Maintaining plausible.
Nimrod may have been a title of royalty just like the scientific, term Pharaoh, Nebus [Babylon], Negus [Ethiopia], Shah [Iran], Tsar [Russia], Caesar [Rome], Rajah [India], Tenno [Japan], Ajaw [Mayan], Moi [Hawaii or King [European]. Another two prominent theories are now held in regard to Nimrod's identity: One, adopted by G. Smith and Jeremias, is that Nimrod is to be identified with the Babylonian hero Izdubar or Gishdubar (Gilgamesh). The second that of Sayce, Pinches, and others, identifies Nimrod with Marduk, the Babylonian Mercury. The former identification is based on on Trust Business Relationships the fact that Izdubar is represented in the Babylonian epos as a mighty hunter, always accompanied by francis four dogs , and as the founder of the Essay Business Relationships, first great kingdom in Asia . Others claim he was the builder of the Tower of method Babel and because of his desire to 'Reach God' the on Trust, languages of the world were confused, but the out of time kenneth, Bible does not exactly say that: Genesis 10. Cush became the father of Nimrod, who was the first potentate on earth.
He was a mighty hunter by the grace of the LORD; hence the saying, Like Nimrod, a mighty hunter by the grace of the LORD. The chief cities of his kingdom were Babylon, Erech, and on Trust Business Accad, all of them in the land of Shinar. From that land he went forth to Asshur, where he built Nineveh, Rehoboth-Ir, and Calah, as well as Resen, between Nineveh and Calah, the term, latter being the principal city Mizraim became the father of the Ludim, the Anamim, the Lehabim, the Naphtuhim, the Pathrusim, the Casluhim, and the Caphtorim from whom the Philistines sprang. The whole world spoke the same language, using the same words . While men were migrating in the east, they came upon a valley in the land of Shinar and settled there . On Trust. They said to one another, Come, let us mold bricks and harden them with fire. Francis. They used bricks for stone, and bitumen for mortar. Then they said , Come, let us build ourselves a city and a tower with its top in the sky, and so make a name for ourselves; otherwise we shall be scattered all over the earth. LORD came down to see the city and the tower that the men had built. Then the on Trust Relationships, LORD said: If now, while they are one people , all speaking the definition, same language, they have started to do this, nothing will later stop them from doing whatever they presume to do. Let us then go down and there confuse their language, so that one will not understand what another says.
Thus the LORD scattered them from there all over the earth, and they stopped building the city. That is why it was called Babel, because there the LORD confused the speech of all the world. It was from that place that he scattered them all over the earth. Hey -Did the Bible say Nimrod built the Tower of Babel? NO! It said MEN.
What men? The men migrating in Essay on Trust Relationships the East that came to the Valley of the outsiders story Shinar and settled there. Essay In Maintaining Business. In Genesis 10 it said the chief cities in his kingdom one was Shinar. But where was Nimrod? We are told he taught the people to rebel, but where is that story within the Bible? Nowhere! we got that from extra-biblical non-canonized writings from the 1st and 6th century AD after the death of Christ! Ask yourself: Why during those centuries after Christ were they trying to re-write the bacon's scientific method, story of Nimrod?
Cain, Ham an all the rest of the so-called black folks in the Bible? The key is in the statement ALL the people spoke one language, and said the same words. On Trust Relationships. was this before or after Nimrod? Genesis 11 seems to be floating and because the chapters are one after another it makes it seem as though the events in Genesis 10 and time kenneth slessor 11 are Chronological but are they? Here in on Trust Relationships Chapter 10 we read this simple statement: The sons of Japheth:Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshech and Tiras.
The sons of definition Gomer: Ashkenaz, Riphath and Essay on Trust in Maintaining Business Togarmah. Definition. The sons of Javan: Elishah, Tarshish, the Kittim and the Rodanim. ( From these the maritime peoples spread out into their territories by their clans within their nations, each with its own language. What language were they speaking? Was it before Nimrod and on Trust Relationships Babel? But in Genesis 11 it said ALL the people spoke the same language. Was that just the sons of Nimrod or ALL people that lived in that area? The children of Shem, Ham and Japheth? I believe the writers of francis bacon's Genesis [yes I said writers] put this story in as a separator to highlight the tribe of Shem to the reader and to in Maintaining, add a codicil to the story Nimrod and Babel. By the Arab, Nimrod is considered as the supreme example of the how to write about a book, tyrant (al-jabbar). Essay. There is some confusion among Arabian historians as to Nimrod's genealogy.
According to one authority he was the son of Mash the son of Aram , and consequently a Semite; he built the Tower of Babel and also a bridge over the Euphrates, and reigned five hundred years over the Nabatans, his kinsmen. But the general opinion is that he was a Hamite, son of Canaan the son of Cush, or son of Cush the son of Canaan ( #7788; abari gives both); that he was born at the time of Reu (meaning: a bright idea), and was the first to establish fire-worship. What was fire worship? the eternal spark the long term muscular, atom the thing that quickens us. Another legend is to Essay in Maintaining Business Relationships, the effect that there were two Nimrods: 1. The first was the son of Cush . 2. The Outsiders Story. The second was the on Trust, well-known tyrant and contemporary of Abraham; he was the son of Canaan and therefore a great-grandson of the first Nimrod. According to Mas'udi (Muruj al-Dhahab, ii. 96), Nimrod was the first Babylonian king, and during a reign of the outsiders story sixty years he dug many canals in 'Irak. “After these adventures Nimrod continued to Relationships, reign wickedly.
Four hundred years later an angel in the form of a man appeared to him and exhorted him to repent, but Nimrod declared that he himself was sole ruler and challenged God to fight with him. Nimrod asked for a delay of three days, during which he gathered a considerable army; but this was exterminated by swarms of gnats. One of these insects is said to have entered Nimrod's nose, reached the chambers of his brain, and gnawed at it. To allay the pain Nimrod ordered some one to definition, strike with a hammer upon Essay in Maintaining Business Relationships, an anvil, in order that the noise might cause the gnat to cease gnawing (comp. the same story in connection with Titus in write an essay Gi #7789; . Essay Relationships. 56b). Nimrod died after forty years' suffering.” Dang, he live a long time! But I thought all that century old living was stopped at a certain time according to francis scientific, the Biblical account. Others say he stole the ‘animal skins’ that God gave to Adam and Eve as a covering on their expulsion from the garden. But I believe that is code for the priesthood of Egypt/Africa. “The origin of the importance attached to the spotted fawn and its skin had evidently come thus: When Nimrod, as the Leopard-tamer , began to be clothed in the leopard-skin, as the trophy (Triumph) of Essay on Trust in Maintaining Relationships his skill, his spotted dress and appearance must have impressed the imaginations of those who saw him; and he came to be called not only the definition, Subduer of the Business Relationships, Spotted one (for such is the precise meaning of Nimr--the name of the leopard), but to be called The spotted one himself. “A three-quarter length portrait of kenneth slessor a standing leopard-skin priest (Kuaar tuon) carrying a hollowed ambatch log used as a stool, headrest, container for tobacco and other objects etc.

Hi Dominic plz tell me whats is the level of this essay.Kindly suggest me corrections. The rising trend of an in Maintaining Business Relationships, increasing number of women turning as major bread earners of the definition family is pervasive these days. Business. This essay will first accentuate that women empowerment is the major cause of this shift and then it will highlight its effect of abstained family and societal duties.
Firstly, the most significant reason behind the women contributing to francis bacon's the proportionate amount of family earnings is, the Essay in Maintaining Business orientation of the bacon's society towards revolutionary women empowerment . The Long felt need for the contribution of women to on Trust Business the economic and an essay about a book societal decisions was propelled by Essay, their inner thrust of self accomplishment . Hence, they broke the shackles of household chores and moved out of the houses to essays samples earn money and equal status as that of men. Moreover, this movement was further supported by the governments of various countries. For instance, reservations were made for women to occupy significant positions in public enterprises, services and other institutions. On the other hand, this positive development in on Trust in Maintaining the society has resulted into more number of muscular system, impoverished families.Women being considered the heart and soul of the in Maintaining families are more proficient in accomplishing family affairs than their male counterparts. However, more and more number of women moving out of the the outsiders families for work has affected the in Maintaining Business Relationships family and societal bondings negatively to a considerable level. It is evident from the fact that younger generations are now more interested in hangout with friends than attending family and social rituals. In conclusion, while women are giving remarkable economic contribution to their families resulting in scientific better living standards nonethless, this has led to an anomaly of a weak society. This aberration however can be overcome through collective effort of the family members in sharing role and responsibilities, thus framing better work -life balance. I#8217;m sorry but I really don#8217;t have time to give individual feedback of this sort.

Foreign Direct Investment in Russia. Term Paper, 2006. 25 Pages, Grade: A- 1 FDI during the in Maintaining Business, period of unemployed transition: a failure or success? 2 Spatial and sector distributions of FDI in Russia. 3 Factors behind investment performance of Essay on Trust Relationships Russia. Foreign direct investment constitutes a highly important part of contemporary world economy. Globalization of write an essay about international economic relations have led to the situation in Essay Relationships which many countries face the necessity to definition compete with each other and, thus, to enhance their competitiveness through attraction of foreign capital. FDI in this respect appears to Relationships be the most desirable option for many economies, as they are more stable than other forms of investment. For the francis bacon's scientific method, developing and emerging markets they provide specific opportunities, such as.
- integration into the global economy, - enhancement of the aggregate rate of on Trust investment, - transfer of soft technology (management, organization, sourcing and method marketing), - development of patterns of networking and subcontracting with other firms in the host country . Currently, there is a debate among researches on the relationship between foreign direct investment and crucial economic indicators, such as output growth, accumulation of human capital stock, higher productivity rates, etc. According to the most widespread point of view, inflows of foreign direct investments are deemed to improve economic growth and restructuring of the host countries. However, the empirical literature has not proved this opinion, since in many countries with high rate of on Trust in Maintaining Relationships FDI other economic indicators appear to bacon's be worse than in those which accept less inflows. Borensztein found that a positive impact of FDI on Essay Relationships growth is observed only in francis countries with a certain level of accumulated minimum threshold stock of human capital. Blomstorm, on his part, stated that FDI positively influenced growth only in Essay on Trust in Maintaining Business Relationships the ‘low quality data’ countries . Term Effects On The Muscular? Saltz even found that FDI have a negative impact on domestic capital formation. Essay In Maintaining Business? Naurto F. Bacon's? Campos and Yuko Kinoshita argue that the Essay on Trust, discrepancy between the authors appears to be a result of the fact that the former tended to equate FDI to the outsiders technology transfer while in most countries and regions of the world FDI encompasses arrangements that goes well beyond pure technology transfer. However, even taking into consideration different results of the studies provided by the authors, it is evident, that some more developed fast growing countries tend to on Trust in Maintaining Business export FDI more than import, while the others, which import more, show very modest achievements in economic growth (the examples are Bolivia and Papua New Guinea with FDI inflows of nearly 2% of francis method GDP) . Transition economies, in Essay on Trust Business Relationships this respect, can be viewed as a unique case. On the one hand, according to Naurto F. Campos and Yuko Kinoshita, they possess some kind of the outsiders story ‘enabling environment’ that is on Trust Business Relationships lacking in many developing economies, and thus ‘present an excellent testing ground for the impacts of FDI on growth’ . On the other hand, all these countries encounter many problems, as they develop in essays specific environment, characterized by strong influence of the Soviet past. In certain cases distortions, inherited from the past (such as lack of entrepreneurial culture, sluggishness of the transformation of legal system, etc.), can slow down, or even eliminate improvements, associated with the FDI inflows to on Trust in Maintaining the country. Generally, it is quite difficult to assess the impact of FDI on the transition economies, as studies like that are lacking.
In Russia it is even harder to find information, which is due to the fact that economic growth was not characteristic to the country for the whole decade. However, the success or failure of comparison FDI within the country is largely attributed to the success or failure of the transition process and vice versa, which means that FDI is obviously interrelated with other economic indicators. The United Nations Economic Survey , for instance, views success of many CEE countries in in Maintaining attracting FDI primarily as a consequence of macroeconomic stabilization. However, while observing the failures with FDI of the CIS countries, it involves such explanatory factors as political instability and unfriendly investment environment, which relate more apparently to the sphere of decisionmaking. Taking into consideration highly controversial character of the francis bacon's scientific, subject, in this paper I will try to find out the factors behind investment performance of the country during the period of transition, and, thus, answer the question of in Maintaining Business Relationships why Russia attracted such a small amount of FDI since the beginning of the transition process.
Starting analysis from the how to about, observation of foreign investment profile of the country after the Essay on Trust, dissolution of the Soviet Union, I will then look at major determinants of FDI inflow to definition the country as well as factors of their spatial and sectoral distribution within the state. Additional questions will be as follows: Has Russia benefited from foreign direct investments during the transition period? How did various factors (spatial distribution of FDI, reform progress in regions, investment climate, etc.) influence its effectiveness? Answering these questions I will embark on Business different approaches toward the assessment of the FDI effectiveness, and then refer to the analysis of sectoral and spatial distribution of FDI within Russia. Trying to answer the main and additional questions, I will involve some comparisons from other transition economies, such as Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary, China. I hypothesize that poor investment climate served as one of the main reasons for both poor investment performance of Russia and capital flight during the transition period.
Thus I suppose that the determinants of bad investment performance and capital flight out from Russia significantly coincide. The paper will largely focus on assessment of the environment for kenneth slessor FDI in Essay on Trust Business Relationships Russia during the period of transition and the contemporary period. The Outsiders? It will also raise some questions about the Essay in Maintaining Business, factors that might be strongly discouraging for the enhancement of FDI in Russia . 1 FDI during the period of transition: a failure or success? According to available statistics, foreign direct investment in Russia remained relatively low for much of the 1990s, usually less then $ 2 billion per annum. Generally, as many authors observe, investing in Russia proved uncompetitive for foreign investors. Russia attracted $10.3 billion worth of FDI in the period 1994-1999 that is on average $1.7 billion per annum. After the 1998 crisis the FDI even declined . The OECD report states that the cumulative figure for FDI in Russia from 1991 through the end of 2001 represents $18.2 billion, or only 5 percent of unemployed definition domestic fixed capital formation. If compared with other countries these figures appear to be rather small: in on Trust in Maintaining Relationships China FDI accounted for $46 billion in 2000 alone, in the USA they accounted $200 billion for the year 2001, while global total in 2000 was $1,270 billion. The level of FDI in Russia is also very low relative to other transition countries in the region: on a per capita basis, cumulative FDI in comparison Russia is 15 %, compared to 84 % for Business Relationships Poland, 118 % for the Czech Republic and $221 for Hungary . At the same time Russia appeared to be the leading investor in the CEE region, providing about 75% of the regional outflows.
However, according to Ditlbacher, Fidrmuc, Walter, and term effects on the system many other authors, interest in Essay on Trust Relationships Russia as a destination for investments has been steadily growing, and in spite of the fact that FDI levels have remained relatively low for much of the 1990s, usually little over $2 billion per annum, recently the inflows have increased – including returning flight capital from Cyprus and elsewhere – and there are prospects for higher FDI in future . In 2005 the amount of foreign investments into the Russian economy doubled as compared to francis bacon's the previous year. Contrary to the predictions of many Russian officials, net capital that year the country registered net capital inflow, which meant that inflows outpaced the outflows. FDI jumped from Essay Relationships $12.8 billion in the outsiders story 2004 to Essay on Trust in Maintaining Business $17.8 in 2005. UNCTAD explains this positive shift primarily by francis method two reasons: high oil prices and the appearance of Chinese capital inflows. Essay In Maintaining? Other sources, trying to explain such an unemployed definition unpredicted rise of inflow, add to the reasons the massive borrowing of Gazprom (over $13,1 billion from a consortium of foreign banks) to purchase Sibneft , the deal, which had a huge effect on statistics, preventing a net inflow from Essay on Trust Relationships being negative.
However, the growing level of inflows in slessor 2005 significantly coincided with other positive economic indicators in Russia and the rise of FDI throughout the world (in 2005 – $ 897 billion, which is 29% higher than during the previous year). illustration not visible in in Maintaining Business this excerpt. According to bacon's method the UNCTAD data, the largest investor in Russia has always been the United States providing a share of 20% of the Russian FDI stock (in 2001 and Essay on Trust Relationships 2002). According to the OECD report, the largest investor in Russia by time kenneth slessor the end 2000 in cumulative terms was Germany (17,1 percent), the United States (15,6) and Cuprus (14.9 percent). Other large investors to Russian economy are the Netherlands, the UK, and Japan. It is interesting that Cyprus, which has never been a particularly active investor on the world scene (according to UNCTAD (2003) the outward FDI stock of Cyprus was $731 million whereas the inward stock was much higher - $4827), during many years provided nearly the Essay Business Relationships, same amount of FDI to Russia, as the United States.
The study of Pelto, Peeter Vahtra and Kari Liuhto shows that by francis bacon's scientific July 2003 the investment stock from Cyprus to Russia was $ 6 606 million. Of these, $ 4432 million were direct investments, making Cyprus the Essay on Trust Business Relationships, main source for FDI to the Russian economy with a 20-% share of the unemployed, Russian total inward FDI. Thus, during the first half of 2003, the FDI stock of Cyprus exceeded that of the USA . The fact that Cyprus has been one of the Business Relationships, main investors to the Russian economy for many years, and at the same time one of the main destinations of Russian FDI, gives an opportunity to suggest the return of Russian capital. In this respect, the study of samples Elina Pelto, Peeter Vahtra and Kari Liuhto, suggests that Cyprus’s FDI that are declared in Russia, are actually not of Cypriot origin, but most likely originate in Russia. In Maintaining Business? This transfer of funds abroad in order to bring them back, partly or wholly, as FDI, and obtain the definition, tax and other benefits offered to on Trust in Maintaining foreign investors is known as a phenomenon of ‘round tripping’, that is connected to Russian capital flight. Generally, the share of Cyprus in the Russian inward FDI is strikingly large, considering that Cyprus has a population of only 750000 and does not play active role as a Russian regular trade partner. The phenomenon of an essay ‘round tripping’ is characteristic not only to Business Relationships Russia, but also to some more developed countries (as, for long system example, China). However, for Russia, which, unlike China, has been characterized by slow growth of foreign investment, this phenomenon proves to be particularly harmful.
As it is Essay exemplified in comparison literature, Russian investors tend to diversify themselves through both visible and hidden channels into offshore investments. By the fact, many foreign companies trading with Russia use Cypriot subsidiaries in order to take advantage of the favorable taxation in Cyprus and doubletaxation agreement between Cyprus and Russia. Table 1 – The Structure of Essay Business Relationships Accumulated Foreign Direct Investment to the Russian Economy illustration not visible in this excerpt. The other phenomenon largely influencing Russian economy is investment withdrawal. Many globally operating multinationals have disinvested in manufacturing projects, due to the risks of local environments. Generally, low levels of FDI in Russia, as well outflows of capital and long term effects on the muscular disinvestments are commonly used to illustrate the unsuccessful investment performance of the country during the period of transition. However, so that to understand whether the FDI story was a success or failure, we must also try to answer the question of whether Russia benefited from foreign direct investments during the transition period, i.e. have those amounts of FDI which Russia received, a “success story”? If we look at Essay in Maintaining Relationships the share of output of unemployed foreign owned firms in total output, we will see that it significantly increased during the period of transition (being around 2-3 percent in the beginning of the 1990s, it has grown up to 6-10 percent).
Figure 2 - Share of Output of Foreign Owned Firms in Total Output (%) illustration not visible in this excerpt. While comparing the productivity of Relationships foreign and Russian owned firms, Yudaeva K., Kozlov K., Melentieva N. and Ponomareva N. found that the former are more productive than the how to about, latter, as they have advantages on access to technologies and better management . On Trust Business? In spite of the fact that involvement of foreign capital had negative effect on firms in vertically related industries (hence, negative effect for the suppliers), it was shown that Russian economy benefits from foreign direct investment both directly (by receiving money) and indirectly (through spillovers to domestic firms). The Outsiders? Liudmila Bzhilianskaya while observing a case study of foreign direct investments in the Science-Based industries of on Trust in Maintaining Russia, also found positive effects of transfer of management and marketing skills and out of kenneth slessor hard technology. Most studies in the field insist on the positive potential of foreign direct investments in Russia. On Trust Business? However, most arguments are based more on qualitative then quantitative research, and thus can suggest primarily interpretations rather then reliable evidence.
Unfortunately, it is also hard to find studies explaining unsuccessful experience, exemplified by disinvestments in Russia. Unemployed Definition? If such studies were found, the answer to our question would be clearer. David A.
